About
Join us for day 2 of the journey along the Fife Coastal Path towards St Andrews. On this stage we will start from North Queensferry heading past Carlingnose Point Nature Reserve. There you can appreciate the spectacular views of the estuary, the bridges, and the Edinburgh skyline. The path then descends to Port Laing beach, which was a WWI seaplane base, and past an active whinstone quarry. This area is rich in birdlife throughout the year. Then the path traverses Inverkeithing, a royal burgh with a range of historic buildings spanning four centuries.
Follow the coast to St David’s Harbour at Dalgety Bay and then on to Downing Point. It’s worth going up the steps to see the WWII gun emplacements and panoramic views across the Firth of Forth. Pass Donibristle Chapel and the ruins of St Bridget’s Kirk onto the village of Aberdour. Aberdour boasts many attractions including the 14th Century castle and gardens, 16th Century doocot, St Fillan’s Church and the 2 award winning beaches, Black Sands and Silver Sands.
