About
Witness the Almost Synchro Dawn Chorus and listen to the birds in the poets' wood then walk along the promenade towards the iconic Clevedon Pier.
As the sun rises and the massive presence of the tide makes itself known we will walk along the cliff top path where houses, caravans and sheep jostle for a glimpse of the water. There will be stopping points for storytelling, sharing and reflection. A beach of red striped stones. The walk finishes at Portishead Marina lock, about 8 miles away. There will be an option to continue on to Pill.
A walk into a new day between two towns linked by colonialism, one now a shabby chic Victorian resort, the other reborn following the erasure of its industrial past. Up river as the Atlantic mixes with the Severn to the point where the River Avon empties into it. Waters navigated from before the birth of industrialisation. Big views, big water, the beat of the tides over millennia, vast mudflats. Who passed this way, what did they carry, what did they bring back. Many questions towards acknowledgement, apology and repair. What songs might we hear?
How might we find ways to make sense of these pasts towards healing in the present?
Creative contributions of all kinds welcome, share a poem, tell a story, make a story as we go!
Please, no dogs.
