Member Code of Conduct

Beach of Dreams is an arts project organised by arts organisation Kinetika, that provides a respectful, safe and inclusive environment for all participants, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, ethnicity, race, national origin, age,  religion, or any other protected categories under applicable law. All participants, including organisers, members, speakers in our seminars and events, and staff are expected to behave with integrity and respect towards other participants attending or anyone involved with any of the Beach of Dreams’ events and activities, including online Member seminars.

Kinetika is committed to informing any participant about this code of conduct. The present Code of Conduct is not a legal document or prescriptive in nature. It supplements but does not affect, the application of other relevant policies, regulations, rules and laws, including laws regulating the premises in which the online seminars take place and any applicable host country agreement.

Kinetika complies with such policies and will report all inappropriate conduct accordingly. Only active, paid Beach of Dreams members are given access to the online seminars, with a link sent to just members prior to the event. Non-registered individuals will not be able to access the online seminars, unless upon prior agreement with the organiser, Kinetika. Throughout each online seminar, Beach of Dreams expects that participants interact with fellow attendees in the same way as at a physical meeting or event.

Please note, each of the Beach of Dreams Member seminars are recorded and will be uploaded to YouTube and to the Member area of the Beach of Dreams website after the seminar.

During the seminar, participants are required to respect the privacy of other participants and refrain from any unauthorized or unwelcomed recording or photography, including the recording of any direct or indirect interactions or electronic messaging with other meeting delegates unless given access within the meeting. Participants are not allowed to take photos or videos of the online seminar unless express prior consent by the organisers has been ascertained. Expressed consent is a written confirmation by the author in a live chat or email correspondence.

All communication, be it verbal or electronic, must be carried out in a respectful and polite manner. Inappropriate messaging or contact will not be tolerated. For the purpose of these guidelines, harassment consists of improper or unwelcome conduct that might reasonably be perceived as causing offense or humiliation to another person. Harassment may involve any conduct of a verbal, non-verbal or physical nature, including written and electronic communication, and may occur between persons of the same or different genders. Harassment in any form is not tolerated at the online conference. Host institutions of reported individuals will be notified about filed harassment reports.

The following is not acceptable:

  • Offensive comments relating to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro (a) typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, ethnicity, culture, political opinion, age, skill level, occupation, background or religion. Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices, including those relating to food, health, parenting, drugs and employment
  • The production or non-consensual sharing of harassing non-consensual photography or unwanted recording, including sexual images in public spaces. (in any format, electronic or otherwise).
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
  • Sustained disruption of talks, sessions or other events.
  • Inappropriate contact, including via electronic communications.
  • Unwelcomed sexual attention.
  • Hate speech, inflammatory or derogatory language
  • Discrimination of any kind, including micro-aggressions or subtle displays of prejudice
  • Violence, incitement or threats of violence or intimidation
  • Personal attacks
  • Encouraging behaviour that violates the code of conduct
  • Deliberate misgendering or use of ‘deadnames’ or rejected names
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviours.

Kinetika reserves the right to take any action as deemed necessary as a consequence of any breach of the present Code of Conduct for Beach of Dreams. This includes reporting to host organisation and the permanent removal from our online seminars. In case of a breach of the Code of Conduct, the concerned individuals are requested to contact the Beach of Dreams organisers, Kinetika on info@beachofdreams.org using the subject: Code of Conduct.
